I LOVE MOVIES!, especially kids movies. I probably enjoy watching my kids movies as much as they do. In fact, I’m usually the only one left watching them after the first hour.
Recently I’ve been trying to make a list of all the old movies I used to watch as a kid so that my kids don’t miss out on these amazing movies.
Here’s my list of some of the best movies of my childhood.
A boy who transforms into an animated character in an illustrated book and goes through the books obstacles to return back home. My description of it is kind of lame but believe me, it’s AMAZING! I highly recommend buying it, it’s cheap on Amazon and its so worth it!
2: TROLL IN CENTRAL PARK!
This is another great animated movie…you guessed it, about a troll. A troll with a magic green thumb who has to save central park and his beloved friends. I bought it for $5 on amazon! Once again, totally worth it!
3: THE BRAVE LITTLE TOASTER!
This one is about animated, talking appliances that go on an adventure to find their master. It sounds a little ridiculous but it’s definitely a goodie! Once again, $5 on Amazon!
4: MAN OF THE HOUSE!
This is one of my all time favorite movies! Plus it has Chevy Chase in it so it automatically hilarious. It’s about a boy who tries to mess up his mom’s new relationship but the adventures they all go through together only make them closer. It’s very funny and you should all immediately go and buy it on….take a guess…Amazon!
This is my husband’s favorite movie! It is also where we got the idea to name our daughter Elora. So we’re a little prejudice. But it’s a great movie! It’s about a dwarf who protects a special baby from an evil queen. It sounds a little odd but give it a chance, you won’t regret it (and if you do, keep it to your self, nobody wants that type of negativity in their life ;). I found it at Target for $5. I actually don’t recommend amazon for this one because the blue-ray version is $109! Theirs must be made of gold or something as expensive!
6: THE SANDLOT!
If you haven’t heard about this movie than I’m sorry! It’s about a group of kids who love baseball! Amazon has it for cheap, especially in the DVD version.
7: OPERATION DUMBO DROP!
I’m not sure how well know this movie is but I was obsessed with it! Mostly because of the elephant scenes, but the entire movie is so great! It takes place during the Vietnam War where they have to deliver an elephant without getting it or themselves killed. It’s a funny movie, I promise! $10 on Amazon (have you realized my obsession with Amazon yet?)
8: THE BIG GREEN!
This is such a great movie with an amazing message. It’s a soccer movie about a group of kids that never give up. I have a thing for sports movies. $9 on Amazon.
9: THE ROOKIE!
Another sports movie, this one’s about baseball. It goes through the story of a man who follows his dream to be a professional baseball player. I love it! And as if it couldn’t get better, it’s a Disney movie! $9 on Amazon!
10: A BUGS LIFE!
I just love this movie. It’s animated, it’s Disney and it’s about bugs…enough said. It’s not too pricey online but I’m sure you can find it for a similar price at most stores.
11: THE PRINCESS BRIDE 1 AND 2!
Every girl fell in love with these movies as a kid. They’re about an average, normal girl who becomes a princess, what’s not to love. You can get the movie pack on Amazon for $14.
12: Last but not least….TREMORS!
Now let me just say that I absolutely HATE! horror movies! I do not watch them ever! But I will make one exception for this movie…and maybe for Eight Legged Freaks…I like that one too. But anyways, this is a funny, scary movie about weird monster snake things. The whole movie consists of everyone trying not to get eaten. It’s one of my favorite movies of all time so if I’m able to watch it without being scared, then anybody can. It’s $8 on Amazon, it’s a must have!
Also…I just want to point out the title of this post, it says MY favorite childhood movies. It does not says my favorite children’s movies. Just to be clear, this is not a children’s movie and probably should not be shown to your five-year old unless you don’t care if they watch weird snake things eat people and listen to people cuss a lot. So, with all that put aside, maybe make this a movie night for grownups after the kiddos are put to bed. But you do you, obviously my parents didn’t mind that much because here we are talking about movies I watched as a child (I was just a bit older of a child when this was introduced).
Alright, that’s enough for today. I love all of these movies and I probably watched them all a hundred times as a child and now watch them with my kids (with the exception of tremors, I’ll probably wait a few more years to bust that one out). I could have listed many more but I’ll save those for another day.
Enjoy all the new movie choices, I hope you all like them as much as I do.
Leave me a comment about your favorite older movies, I might just add them to the next movie post!
